Knife Amnesty

Knife Amnesty

Dear Resident,

Do you have any unwanted knives?

Our police stations in Sawston and Cambourne will be open this week to allow people to hand in knives and other items to police without prosecution.

As well as knives, people can surrender items such as knuckledusters, extendable batons, curved swords and zombie weapons that have been made illegal to own.

You can hand them in here:

-Sawston Police Station between 10am and 2pm on Wednesday (19 November)

-Cambourne Police Station between 2pm and 6pm on Sunday (23 November)

For more advice on knife crime, head to our website.

Kind Regards,

Recreation Ground Car Park

The car park will remain closed until Wednesday or Thursday next. Adverse weather forecast for Friday means concreting planned has been cancelled until next week.

Please let regular users know.

Car Park Closure for Resurfacing and Entrance Work

The recreation ground car park will be closed from Tuesday 11th November until Wednesday 19th November so that the compound can be removed, car park resurfaced and entrance rebuilt. Could residents who leave their cars overnight please remove cars before Tuesday.

West Street Closed in Comberton

You may have seen the “Road Ahead Closed” at the junction of A603 and B1046 (Cambridge Road and New Road). This is in relation to Cambridge Water works on West Street in Comberton. These works should be finished 29th/30th October. We have asked that the “Businesses Open As Usual” signs be put up alongside the “Road Ahead Closed” sign as road users may think the sign relates to Greenways work in the village.

Dispersal Order for Potential Car Meet

We are aware of a potential car meet being organised in Cambridgeshire this weekend.

We are reminding anyone thinking about taking part, that a zero-tolerance approach is taken towards illegal and unauthorised car meets.

Anyone taking part in a car meet without landowner permission, could be prosecuted or have their vehicle seized.

Car cruising can often attract large numbers of people and causes noise for residents and anti-social behaviour issues.

A dispersal order is in place this weekend in a bid to reduce crime and disorder and gives officers powers to move anyone believed to be behaving anti-socially from the area.

Kind Regards,

Inspector Craig Flavell

Fa La La on Every Lawn…

Dear friends and neighbours,

Get ready to deck the halls – and your gardens! Our village decorating tradition returns with a joyful new theme…

This year’s theme is “Christmas Carols” – with a creative twist!
We’re inviting every household to take part by choosing a favourite carol and decorating their garden, hedge or window to reflect it. Whether it’s O Come All Ye Faithful, Silent Night, or The Holly and the Ivy, let your imagination shine and help transform the village into a joyful celebration of song and spirit this December.

More details will follow soon, but for now, please save the date: Saturday 6th December 4-6pm for our Village Christmas Tree Lighting and a festive evening by the pond.

With festive cheer,
The Village Christmas Committee
