The Women’s Institute was founded in the UK in 1915. We set out to give women a voice and to be a force for good in the community. Since then, its membership and ambitions alike have grown tremendously. Today, it is the largest women’s organisation in England, Wales and the Isles and prides itself on being a trusted place for women of all generations to share experiences and learn from each other.

Wednesday Women WI was formed in 2011 and is open to all women aged 18 plus whether or not they live in Barton. It meets on the third Wednesday of each month, except August when we aim to hold an informal social event such as “Pizza and Pictures”, open air theatre visit or a punt outing followed by a meal.

The usual venue is Barton Pavilion. However, as with many groups we have had to adapt to the “new normal” of the corona virus pandemic and have moved our meetings to Zoom, but don’t worry if you don’t have access to a computer you can still join in by telephone. All meetings open at 7.45 p.m. for an 8.00 p.m. start.
