As some will have seen, work has started on raising the iron work back to road surface level on Comberton Road following the resurfacing at the beginning of June. Cambridgeshire County Ccouncil (CCC) Highways has apologized for the delay in starting the work and also for state that the iron work was left in after resurfacing. Other defects have been reported to CCC Highways by the Parish Council (PC) but if you do spot any other faults please report them either to the PC or via the minor faults reporting website.
There will be a Hustings at Grantchester Village Hall at 7:30 pm on 1st July 2024.

Work on extending and refitting the village shop and Post Office has not finished yet and so opening will be delayed until Saturday 15th June.
As you are aware Comberton Road is closed for resurfacing. Whippet have told us that the 18 bus could not come through Barton when they tried an alternative route yesterday (High Street to village centre). The service will be suspended through Barton again today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday) between 9 am and 4 pm.
They will be travelling on the Madingley Road down the M11 to Barton Road.

Comberton Road is being resurfaced and will be closed on Tuesday 4th June for up to three days. There will be a detour in place. Access will be available to residents but will be restricted.
Closure times are from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.
The resurfacing process is two stage. The first layer will go down and allowed to set. You will not be allowed to drive on this during the setting process. The top layer will then go down. Again you will not be allowed to drive on this until set. Access to driveways will be restricted during the process and this could be up to 1 hour.
I am told that the bitumen/resin mix will damage paint work and tyres. So you will not want to attempt to drive over the surface until the resin is set. The workmen will allow passage when it is safe to do so.
Please plan accordingly and I suggest that you leave your car at the recreation ground car park if you do need it during this period.
Pictures sent of the Northern Lights on Friday night (10th May 20204) are on our “Photo of the Month”. Why go to Iceland or Norway to see the Aurora Borealis when you have such a spectacular display in Barton? They might be visible again tonight (Saturday 11 May 2024).
