Join the Conversation: Shaping Our New and Improved Bus Routes

The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority have been working at pace to design improvements to the public transport network. As part of this, new and/or improved bus services have been designed for implementation in Autumn 2024. The detail of these services is available here: Better Buses

 

We are excited to announce a series of online sessions where you can have your say on the 30 new and revised bus routes we are planning for our region. These sessions are your chance to provide feedback and help us shape the future of public transportation in our community.

About the Event:

Our region is embarking on an exciting journey to enhance public transportation with 30 new and improved bus routes, funded by the Mayoral Precept. This initiative aims to introduce new services and upgrade existing routes to better serve our community’s needs. As you are aware Comberton Road is closed for resurfacing. Whippet have told us that the 18 bus could not come through Barton when they tried an alternative route yesterday (High Street to village centre). The service will be suspended through Barton again today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday) between 9 am and 4 pm.

 

They will be travelling on the Madingley Road down the M11 to Barton Road.

Comberton Road is being resurfaced and will be closed on Tuesday 4th June for up to three days. There will be a detour in place. Access will be available to residents but will be restricted.

Closure times are from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.

The resurfacing process is two stage. The first layer will go down and allowed to set. You will not be allowed to drive on this during the setting process. The top layer will then go down. Again you will not be allowed to drive on this until set. Access to driveways will be restricted during the process and this could be up to 1 hour.

I am told that the bitumen/resin mix will damage paint work and tyres. So you will not want to attempt to drive over the surface until the resin is set. The workmen will allow passage when it is safe to do so.

Please plan accordingly and I suggest that you leave your car at the recreation ground car park if you do need it during this period.

 

There is a vacancy for Parish Councillor.

A by-election to fill the vacancy will be held if within the 14 days from Thursday 9th May to Tuesday 28th May if ten or more electors for the Parish give notice in writing requesting that an election will be held.

Such notice must be delivered to the Returning Officer at: South Cambidgeshire District Council, South Cambridgeshire Hall, Cambourne Business Park, Cambourne, Cambridge CB23 6EA

If no such notice is given the Parish Council will fill the vacancy by co-option.
