Clarification Important Meeting Barton Greenways

Just to clarify from our previous post that the discussion is around a raised table with or without a zebra crossing. A raised table slows traffic down entering the village but pedestrians and cyclists have to wait to cross the road. A raised table with a zebra crossing slows traffic down entering the village but gives priority to pedestrians and cyclists to cross the road. So the discussion is really around the change in priority versus the visual impact on the village in this area.

Greater Cambridge Partnership Presentation by Jonathan Camp Senior Project Manager (Barton Greenways)

There will be a meeting at Barton Village Hall at 6:30 pm on Tuesday 1st July 2025, before the full Parish Council Meeting at 7:30 pm.

We will have a presentation by Jonathan Camp of the GCP. Jonathan will discuss the area at the end of New Road shared pavement (Kings Grove/Burwash Manor) where current plans show a raised table. Several residents have expressed a preference for a zebra crossing which will be on the raised table (as was detailed on the plans exhibited on the GCP consultation and public drop in 24 November 2022).

Your input is required for the Parish Council to make a decision in the meeting that follows.

If you are unable to attend the presentation by Jonathan but wish to comment, please contact the clerk by email or letter.
