Work to fill and repair the 211 defects on the A603 (Cambridge Road) between the M11 and Barton layby should have been completed last night. CCC Streetworks and Barton PC pressured Openreach to repair the collapsed manhole at the New Road/A603 junction at the same time. The temporary traffic lights have been removed.

 

Please continue to report defects such as pot holes  and blocked drains on CCC Highways Report a Fault page. Feel free to contact Barton PC directly if faults are not fixed in a timely manner and will we do our best to push for repairs.

Important roadworks information

M11 junction 14 (Girton Interchange) northbound exit slip road – resurfacing

 

Dear Customer

 

I’m writing to tell you that we plan to carry out resurfacing on the M11 junction 14 northbound exit slip road. Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer, smoother and better-defined road surface.

 

We plan to complete this work over two nights on Wednesday 7 January and Thursday 8 January 2026. We will be closing the road overnight between 9pm and 5am, weather permitting.

 

Closures and diversions

To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the M11 junction 14 northbound exit slip road, and divert traffic as detailed below:

 

Diversion route for traffic exiting M11 northbound at junction 14 (Girton Interchange)

• Continue north on the M11
• Join the A14 and keep going to junction 25 (Bar Hill Interchange)
• Use the fourth exit at Bar Hill to turn around
• Head south on the A14 back to Girton Interchange
• The diversion ends at Girton Interchange

Cable theft in Cambridgeshire

Dear Resident,

Thieves are continuing to target underground cables in our area – and it’s causing serious disruption to communities.

The latest incident happened overnight on Monday in Abbots Ripton, where thieves attempted to steal around 400 metres of underground cable.

But their plans didn’t go as expected – the vehicle they were using ended up in a ditch! It’s now been seized and found to have been stolen from elsewhere in the county in October.

Cable theft is not just a crime – it can leave homes and businesses without power, phones and internet and cost thousands to repair.

👉 If you see anything suspicious – people working on cables late at night, unusual activity near roadside boxes, or vehicles parked in rural areas – please call us immediately on 999 if a crime is in progress, or 101 to report information.
