Against Scams
Council News
I attended a Police and Crime Commissioner briefing last night with topics on Speedwatch and Scams. Whilst we have Speedwatch up and running in Barton, there are several details that I clarified with the presenter. We can report the number plates of regular speeding motorists to the Speedwatch coordinator. They are also interested in MVAS data. I am happy to act as conduit for both. There is also another scheme called HGVwatch. This is more for reporting HGV vehicles that violate restrictions such as access or weight limits. There is some training for this so worth looking in to for Barton. I think it worth reporting speeding of HGVs through this scheme.
The second presentation was on Scams. There is online training and also resources available for local public meetings to discuss, support and educate on Scams. The links are on the Cambridgeshire County Council website. Well worth going through the training and volunteering to provide support to other Barton residents. The training is called Friends Against Scams.
Other recommendations are to sign up to eCops. This site provides local alerts on crime and complements Neighourhood Watch.
